Dear  St. Columba Family,

As your Pastor, I often speak to you about the beauty of stewardship, sacrificial giving, and trusting in God’s provision. A month ago, I decided to challenge myself to live out this calling in a deeper, more intentional way by committing to a strict tithe of my own personal income back to our church and parish ministries.

I wanted to share with you that completing this first month of tithing has been a profoundly humbling and spiritually renewing experience for me.

Even as a priest, it is easy to fall into the human trap of looking for financial security in the world. Taking this step of faith forced me to practice exactly what I preach: to truly let go, place my absolute trust in the Lord, and acknowledge that everything I have belongs to Him. Rather than a sense of loss, this month has brought me an unexpected abundance of peace, freedom, and joy.

I share this with you not to draw attention to myself, but to lead by example. I cannot ask you to take leaps of faith that I am unwilling to take myself. Seeing how our parish relies on your generosity to fund our liturgies, maintain our beautiful church, and support St. Columba School makes me incredibly proud to give back alongside you as a fellow member of this community.

If you have been hesitant about your own stewardship or wondering if you can afford to give to the Lord, I encourage you to take it to prayer. God is never outdone in generosity, and He will always sustain us when we put Him first.
